Lettuce testing in the laboratory
With freshly harvested lettuce seed, the after-ripening period is often short; a seed lot showing uneven sporadic growth, because of thermo dormancy, can soon express rapid uniform growth in the optimum temperature of constant 68°F.

Lettuce growth at its best: 4-day test @ 68°F  -  Note rapid, uniform, 100% normal growth
