Evaluation of Tetrazolium (TZ) Tests on Small Vegetable Seeds

Lettuce
Family Asteraceae

Lettuce has several types of abnormal seedlings, such as:

  • Physiological necrosis

  • Short roots

Physiological necrosis is a form of decay or cell death.  This kind of damage to a seed is visible in the cotyledons of a seedling and is also visible in a tetrazolium test.
